The Southern Star observation wheel, the hugely anticipated new Melbourne tourism attraction, has launched in a Grand Opening extravaganza at Waterfront City, Melbourne Docklands.

The Southern Star is first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and showcases incredible views overlooking Melbourne’s CBD, Victoria Harbour and beyond.

“The Southern Star is destined to become a major tourism destination for Melbourne and Australia.  You can sit back and look in awe as the sensational views of Melbourne continuously unfold before your eyes,” said Fred Maybury, Chairman of the Southern Star Management Group.

Key features include:
- Unique star design formed in the shape of the seven-pointed Federation Star
- 120 metres in height (equal to a 40 storey building)
- 21 air conditioned cabins capable of holding up to 20 people each
- 30 minute flight experience
- Open 365 days a year.
